REALTOR® Safety

REALTOR® Safety is a top priority at the Northwest Mississippi REALTORS®. The association offers safety courses throughout the year to members at no cost to members including self-defense classes, gun control, gun licensing and courses from the local sheriff’s department.

The Northwest Mississippi REALTORS® is open for members to meet clients at the NWMR office to sign paperwork or borrow the computer between appointments. We are proud to offer safe meeting areas for REALTORS®.


REALTOR® Community

NWMR offers numerous networking events throughout the year to connect members and affiliates.


NWMR Leadership

NWMR Leadership is a yearlong program offered to NWMR members who wish to further their leadership skills not only professionally but also personally. The program is a mixture of on and off site events as well as study sessions using John Maxwell material.

The purpose of NWMR Leadership is to…

  • IDENTIFY emerging leaders and potential NWMR leadership;

  • EMPOWER those individuals to maximize their leadership potential;

  • ENCOURAGE those individuals to participate in NWMR leadership roles; and to

  • INCORPORATE those individuals into NWMR’s committee/leadership structure.

Benevolent Fund

In 2014, NWMR created the NWMR Benevolent Fund to assist members during hardships. The fund is available to members and those associated with NWMR in their time of need such as health issues, natural disaster or other hardships. Members apply for assistance and receive aid from the fund. NWMR is one of 15 other associations in the country that offer this assistance to their members.

Committees

NWMR Committees offer a great way to get involved! Applications open in fall for the following year but you can join in anytime.

GRIEVANCE/PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Members must meet annual education requirement to serve on this committee. Required training date to be determined. Committee members must have knowledge of the Code of Ethics and remain impartial in proceedings. Members will be called on to review forms used at local level for complaints and/or disputes; will review any complaint lodged against a REALTOR® or a dispute over a commission. May be called upon to sit on a hearing panel.

REALTOR® Party (RPAC)

Committee members must have an understanding and appreciation of RPAC. Committee members must be able to separate personal political views from task needed on RPAC which is limited to issues/candidates with a real property focus. Responsible for promoting RPAC, informing and involving members of legislation affecting the real estate business, fundraising, expected to attend REALTOR® Day at state capitol in Jackson, MS, be aware of any local issues/policy that would hurt property rights, work w/ association office to host potential candidates prior to elections to advocate home ownership and property rights. Chairperson will be responsible for giving RPAC update at all quarterly meetings.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH (CHARITIES)

Committee members must have a passion for giving back to the community. Responsible for supporting and promoting annual community projects. Responsible for seeking out needs in our communities and proposing fund raising projects to supply funds/materials for special needs; generally promoting goodwill between Realtors and communities. Plan to attend meetings as scheduled, monthly or quarterly. Projects: Toys for Tots, Mid-South Food Bank, Tunica Humane Society, Project Package for the Troops etc.

ENGAGEMENT

Committee members must have a positive, strong social and in-person network. Promote NWMR events in offices and on social media to increase participation among peers. Grassroots efforts to get other members involved in events, education, benefits and programs offered through NWMR. Assist in creating campaigns of involvement and other tasks as needed. Encouraged to attend quarterly meetings.

SCHOLARSHIP

Committee members must be willing to work together to identify the best candidates for the scholarships based on the information and outline provided. Implementing NWMR High School Scholarship program and reviewing applicants for future scholarships. Click here to download Scholarship Application.

OTHER TASK FORCE AS NEEDED

Limited time frame projects as determined by the NWMR Board of Directors. *All committees require active participation and attendance.
